Family-school partnership

Parents are part of how this school works.

Our School Governing Body is elected by parents, and our open weeks, meetings and family events are designed so a working parent or grandparent can actually attend.

Three ways we stay in touch

The doors that are always open.

Two parent meetings per term, one open week per term, and an SGB you can call by name — not a faceless email address.

Termly parent meetings

Held on the second Thursday evening of each term, plus a one-to-one progress conversation at the end of every term — including a 20-minute reading of the report for parents who request it.

Sign-up at the gate noticeboard for kitchen, garden, library, sports day and Heritage Day duty. We thank every volunteer publicly at the end-of-term assembly.

Family Fun Day

An annual Saturday in October when parents, grandparents and siblings spend the morning at the school — sharing food, watching learner performances and meeting their child’s teacher informally.

School Governing Body (SGB)

Six elected parent members, two educator members and the principal. Meets the last Tuesday of each month, 17:30 at the school hall. Minutes pinned at the gate within 7 days.

WhatsApp class lines

Each grade has a WhatsApp group run by the class teacher for daily reminders, homework photos and absence notifications. Voice notes welcome — we know not every parent reads English easily.

Open weeks & visits

One full open week per term where any parent can sit at the back of any classroom for a lesson, no booking required. Tea served in the staff room from 09:30.

“We believe the best education for a Luka Village child is the one their family co-creates with the school.”
